Madhymaheshwar is a Hindu temple dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva and is located in the Goundar village of the Garhwal region in Uttarakhand, India.
Madhymaheshwar temple dates more than 1000 years back. This town is completed by the shepherds and villagers residing here.

The middle or torso of Lord Shiva is worshiped here. That is how the temple receives its name. Local beliefs and ancient stories say that it was constructed by the Pandavas, who survived the Mahabharata.
Madhymaheshwar temple is a tiny black shrine-like structure, which can be viewed through Chaukhamba Mountain peaks. A navel-shaped Shiva-lingam, made of black stone, is currently placed in the temple for worship by the devotees.
There are two more shrines. One is dedicated to Goddess Parvati and the other to the Ardhnarishwar form of Shiv.
It is said that Bhima, one of the Pandavas, built this temple used to worship Shiva daily here.
There is a temple beside the main temple where Maa Saraswati, the goddess of intelligence, is worshiped. She resides there in a marble statue form.
The temple’s water is considered to be the holiest. It is believed that it abolishes all pain and grief.
The worship starts here in the summers and is done till October- November. Since the snowfall starts after this period, the doors get closed for the devotees. This place is also famous for madmaheshwar trek that is considered as one of the finest treks in world
During winters, amidst the snowfall, the idol of the god is shifted to Ukimath. This is done with all the religious formalities for the worship to be continued.
