The celestial city of Devprayag is situated at an altitude of 830 meters above sea level. Devprayag is the last Prayag or holy confluence of the Alaknanda river. It is from here that the confluence of the Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers is known as Ganga. Devprayag is also called the place of Pandits. All the Pandits here are related to Badrinath Dham.
“Deva” means deity, and “Prayag” means confluence. Thus, Devprayag is the confluence of gods and goddesses. Devprayag is one of the famous cities of Uttarakhand, which is known for its divine aura. Devotees come here to visit all the holy places like Sangam, Raghunathji Temple, Dhaneshwar Mahadev Temple, Danda Nagraj (Lord of Snakes) Temple, Chandrabadni Temple, and Mata Bhuvaneshwari Temple adorned in Pundal Village. The city of Devprayag is also the winter home of the priests of Badrinath.
Devprayag sangam is the highest place for travel lovers. Here one gets to see an amazing view of natural beauty. In summer, people come here with great enthusiasm to enjoy the pleasant weather here. It is also very cold here in winter.

Devprayag is one of the Panch Prayag (heavenly confluence) of holy rivers in Uttarakhand. Thousands of pilgrims visit Devprayag during the annual pilgrimage to Char Dham to seek blessings from the Lord. Raghunath Temple is a famous temple in Devprayag dedicated to Lord Rama. It is known to be over a thousand years old. Every year thousands of devotees come from far and wide to visit the Raghunath temple.
There is also a hill called Dasharathanchal near Devprayag Uttarakhand. A rock here is known as Dasharatha Shila. It is believed that King Dasharatha did penance on this rock. A stream also flows from this hill, which was named after Shanta, the daughter of King Dasharatha.
