Arvind Raturi is the youngest mountaineer from Uttarakhand to scale Mount Everest at the age of 20 years and 11 months. As a member of the N.C.C. Mount Everest Expedition 2013, Arvind conquered the world’s highest peak on 19 May 2013 at 7.30 am. Arvind hails from Rindol village located in Pratapnagar tehsil of Tehri Garhwal district in Uttarakhand.
This Uttarakhand Mountaineer is trained in mountain rescue from Nehru Institute of Mountaineering (NIM) Uttarkashi.
He was actively involved in rescue operations during the 2013 floods in Kedarnath Valley of Uttarakhand. Arvind is professionally trained in aquatic adventure sports, including kayaking, canoeing, water skiing, and surfing.
N.C.C. in 2013. The expedition team to Mount Everest was received by the Director-General. On this occasion, N.C.C. Lt Gen P.S. Bhalla remarked that the history created by this young team would be remembered for many years to come. It was the first solo expedition by N.C.C. to summit ‘Mount Everest.’
N.C.C. in New Delhi The team was greeted by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh at Rally 2014. Congratulating the team, he said that the country got the N.C.C. award for conquering the world’s highest peak in its first-ever Mount Everest expedition. Proud of boy cadets. This has been possible only because of their combined effort, planning, stamina, and skill. The nation is proud of his achievements.
On the occasion of Republic Day in 2014, 9 cadets were honored by the Defense Minister’s Medal. Since then, the most deserving cadets have been honored every year for bravery and exceptional service of the highest order.
