Anirudh Thapa is a footballer who plays for the Indian Football team and Chennaiyin FC. He is a right-footed footballer who plays as a central flank of the middle field.
He was born in Dehradun, Uttrakhand on January 15, 1998.
He is considered one of the brightest players of Indian football.
He started playing at the early age of 8, when he played football for his school St Joseph’s Academy, Dehradun.
At the age of 10, he joined St. Stephen’s Academy of football, Chandigarh. He is the only footballer from Uttarakhand to have paved his way through AIFF Elite Academy in Goa.
Thapa has represented India at various age levels starting from U-14. He was part of the Victorious SAFF U-16 championship.
He has played quite well in matches like AFC U -16 where scored a goal against Lebanon. He was picked up as the replacement by Chennaiyin FC when Dhanachandra Singh got injured for the final match of the 2016 ISL campaign against FC Goa. Thereafter he was handed over his professional debut.
After an impressive performance in the 2018 U -23 AFC championship, a national call was made for him.
On 6 January 2019, Thapa made his first-ever International goal in 4-1 against Thailand in the 2019 AFC Asian Cup. He also scored against same the opponent in Kings Cup 2019 when India won by 1- 0.
The 20-year-old young man is always appreciated for his hard work and sharp work on his foot skills. He has a great passing ability and game awareness.
Thapa played 16 matches for Minerva Punjab in the 2016-17 I-League campaign and scored against Mumbai FC to mark the Minreva’ s Maiden I-league.
Thapa returned to his old club Chennaiyin on 31 May 2017, after his loan spell with Minerva Punjab ended.
He has been honored as the ‘AIFF Men’s Emerging Footballer of the Year’: 2017-2018 and 2019-20.
Anirudh Thapa Footballer was once very badly injured during the match against Bengaluru FC in GMC Stadium in Bambolim.
The injury was not that serious and he got well and back on foot for kicking the ball again. He proved that he is a champion and no one can kick a champion out of the league, not even the pain.
He is an eminent player for the Indian football federation as well as the club he is playing for.
