Himani Shivpuri is a very famous face of the Indian Television shows and film industry.
She was born in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. She completed her education at a boarding school, ‘The Doon school.’ The poet Dr.Haridutt Bhatt who was her father used to teach Hindi at the same school. She was actively involved in dramatics during her school time. She started a parallel career in theatre while pursuing her postgraduate degree in Organic Chemistry. She was seen in ‘PhirWahiTalash’ as a supporting actress.
She graduated from the National School of Drama in 1982. Shivpuri worked with the NSD Repertory Company and then shifted to Mumbai.
In 1984, Himani Shivpuri made her film debut with the movie ‘Ab AyegaMazaa.’ This was followed by ‘In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones’ In 1989, a TV film also starring Shahrukh Khan. She was also a part of many art films thereafter. In 1993 she was seen in ShyamBenegal’s ‘Suraj Ka SatvanGhoda .’ In 1994, she did ‘Mammo,’ although her big commercial break came in 1994, with Sooraj R. Barjatya’s ‘Hum Aapke Hain Koun’ making her popular.
She made her television debut with the DD National serial ‘Humrahi,’ directed by Kunwar Sinha, from which she gained considerable popularity. Her role of ‘DevkiBhojai’ was appreciated a lot. Prior to this, she had made a brief entry in Lekh Tandon’s TV show ‘PhirWahiTalash’ and ShyamBenegal’s ‘Yatra.’
After Humrahi, she became a popular and familiar face on Indian television shows starring in serials like the 1995 Zee TV serial ‘Hasratein.’ Here, she played the role of a dissatisfied wife forced to marry a man double her age and on the lookout for extramarital affairs to satiate her needs. After that, she was seen in ‘KasautiZindagi Ki,’ ‘KyunkiSaasBhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ as Raksha, Chandni, Dollar Bahu on Zee TV, and Josh on Star Plus. Himani was also seen in ‘EkLadkiAnjaani Si’ and most recently in ‘GharEk Sapna,’ which was aired on Sahara One and ‘India Calling’ of Star one.
She has worked with big banners like Yash Raj Films, Dharma Films, and Rajshiri Productions.
She was also a part of UmraoJaan by J.P Dutta. When she recently started her shoot after COVID-19, she shared with the media that working is always fun and exciting. She feels great to be back as an actress. Himani Shivpuri age does not let her restrict to pursue her passion as she’s still an active face of Indian cinema.
