Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna was born on 25 April 1919. He was an Indian National Congress(I.N.C.) member and leader too. Bahuguna was also the former Chief Minister of U.P. He later joined Bharatiya Lok Dal and co-worked with Charan Singh. He had his contributions in the Independence Struggle too.
Bahuguna was born in Bughani, Pauri Garhwal, on 25 April 1919 in a Garhwali Brahmin family. The Bahuguna family later moved to Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh.
Bahuguna had two wifes. The first wife was a simple woman and always lived in his native village Bughani. His second wife, Kamala Bahuguna, lived with him in Allahabad, and the couple had three children.
Bahuguna completed his school from D.A.V. School and did his college from Messmore Inter College of Pauri Town. He did his high school from Pauri and, in 1937, got his degree from the Government Intermediate College in Allahabad in the Bachelor of Science program. In 1946, he received an Arts degree.
From 1942 to 1946, he was also jailed for joining the ‘Quit India Movement.’
In 1973, he was elected the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, was later forced by Indira Gandhi to resign in 1975.
In 1984, in the parliamentary elections, he contested against Amitabh Bachchan from Allahabad constituency.
He fell ill in 1988 and went to the United States for treatment. The treatment did not go well, and he passed away on 17 March 1989.
He has worked with numerous prominent leaders of India and has had a remarkable political career as well.
