Uttarakhand has been known for great talented poets, singers, and actors for ages. The mountains have given birth to great talent. They all rise and shine like armor despite having limited resources in the mountains.
Girish Tiwari Girda was a famous and renowned scriptwriter, organic culturist, director, lyricist, literary writer, singer, poet, and social activist of Uttarakhand, India. He was a one-man army, in other words.
Early Life
He was born on 10 September 1945 in Jyoli village near Hawalbag in Almora, Uttarakhand. He went to school at the Government Inter College in Almora and later completed his schooling in Nainital, Uttarakhand.
He was talented, but after meeting the very famous and talented lyricist and writer Late Brijendra Lal Sah, Girish Tiwari realized his potential for creative things like Writing, Scripting, and much more.
Career
Girish Tiwari has directed famous plays like ‘AndhaYug,’ ‘AndherNagri,’ ‘Thank you Mr. Glad,’ and ‘Bharat Durdasha.’ He wrote plays including ‘Dhanush Yagya’ and ‘NagareKhamosh Hain.’ He edited plays like ‘ShikharonKeSwar’ in 1969, ‘Hamari Kavita KeAnkhar’ and ‘Rang Dari DioAlbelin Main.’ In 2002, his latest compilation of poems and songs, especially on ‘Uttarakhand Andolan’ and ‘Uttarakhand Kavya,’ was published.
The Uttarakhand folk genome tank, ‘Bedupako,’ published a small collection of poems in the original sound of legendary Girish Tiwari. Girish Tiwari Girda Poems are still very popular amongst Uttarakhand culture.
Last Days
The famous Kumaoni poet was ill in his last days, and many diseases and disorders had caught him. He was not feeling great and had lost too much weight too.
He suffered a lot both physically and financially in his last days of life. He dedicated his whole life to poetry and Uttarakhand Andolan.
On 22 August 2010, he died after a brief illness. His wife, Hemlata Tiwari, and one son are left behind with his legacy.
