Dev Negi is a prominent playback singer born on 25 June 1989 in the hilly town of Dwarahat in Almora, Uttarakhand. He is very grounded and a versatile singer.
During his childhood, he used to perform in many of his school and cultural events. He spent most of the time listening to Mohammad Rafi and Kishore Kumar’s songs. As per his saying, he had learned most of the music through listening only. After completion of his schooling, he moved to Jalandhar, Punjab, for higher education. He holds a bachelor’s degree in music from the well-known ‘Apeejay College of Fine Arts’ and learned classical music from his guru Shri Vinod Verma Ji.
Talking of his achievements, he is a marvelous person. He made his debut with the fantastic song “Aaja Ab Jee Le Zara” of the film “Ankur Arora Murder Case” in 2013.
In 2015, he gained recognition when he got two of his film songs released consecutively. One of them being ‘Ho Gya Hai Pyaar’ from the movie ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ and ‘Coffee PeetayPeetay’ from ‘Gabbar is Back’ the other.
These songs had brought him great fame, but the one which came out as a significant outcome or the milestone of his life was ‘Badri Ki Dhulhania.’ After this song, he sang a list of blockbusters songs like ‘Chalti Hai Kya 9 Se 12’ from Judwaa 2, ‘Sweety Tera Drama’ from Bareilly ki Barfi, ‘Butterfly’ from the film Jab Harry Met Sejal, ‘Sweetheart’ from Kedarnath and many other popular tracks. Apart from films, he has sung several title tracks for television shows, including ‘Mere Rang Mein RangneWaali,’ ‘EkBoondIshq,’ and many more. Moreover, Negi has recorded songs for various other languages like Punjabi, Kumaoni, Marathi, Telugu, and Bengali.
Talking about his personal life, his father is an ex-army officer and a boxing player. His mother is a housemaker. One thing that is most admirable about this man is that being born and brought up in a Kumaoni family, he had no ancestral roots in music.
