The temple of Anasuya Devi is established at a place called Mandal in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. In a natural environment away from the hustle and bustle of the city, it rests in the lap of the Himalayas on the Rishikul mountain.
The way to reach the Anusuya Dev Temple is quite difficult, but it is also quite exciting. Whoever visits here experiences a different view of the atmosphere and nature.
The temple is situated on top of the mountains, due to which the way here can be done only by climbing on foot.
After facing difficult paths, when devotees reach near the temple, they first see the idol of Ganesh Ji, which is built on a rock, and it is believed that it is naturally present there.
The tales of the construction of this temple are such that when Atri Muni was doing penance some distance away from here, then his wife Anusuya Mata started living here in a hut waiting for her husband while observing the fast. It is believed that when Anusaya Mata started asking about her observance of class religion in 13 worlds, then Saraswati Lakshmi and Parvati Mata forced Brahma Vishnu and Shiva to test her.
The three gods disguised as sages appeared before Anusuya and asked her to feed them. However, the condition was that they would eat food only when Anusuya, being naked, would make them sit on her lap and feed them. Anusuya Maiya got disturbed by this, and she remembered her husband. She then recognized the three who came in the form of sages and the three gods incarnated in the form of 6-month-old babies. Anusuya then lovingly fed the three gods.
Seeing all this, Saraswati, Parvati, and Lakshmi Mata got upset and reached Narad Muni for help. Narada Muni went to Anusuya and requested Mata to let the three gods incarnate in their real form. Then Anusuya Mata used her Sati force and Again brought the three gods to their original form. Since then, she came to be known as Mother Sati Anusuya.
