The Pahadi boy with his Pahadi cap on his head, who is winning the hearts of the audience all across the nation, is none other than Pawandeep Rajan. His charming face and his melodious voice have made him people’s favourite. Before knowing him as the winner of Indian Idol, let us know more about him as a boy who had big dreams.
Pawandeep was born in Champawat, Uttarakhand. Music has always been an integral part of his childhood.
He always had a steel bowl with him and would keep playing it as a drum when he was a child, says Pawandeep. His father is a singer as well and has performed in various events. His father inspired him to pursue music. After completing his schooling, he pursued his bachelor’s degree from Kumaon University.
During his college days, he saw an advertisement in a local newspaper about The Voice season 1 audition. He trained for two weeks prior to the audition and succeeded in getting Shaan and Mika as his mentor. He joined Team Shaan. Under his mentorship and with his own talent, Pawandeep won The Voice with a whooping cash prize of 50 lac rupees and a contract with Universal Music.
Since then, there has been no looking back for him. He launched his debut song, ”Yakeen” with the Universal Group Music in 2015. Pawandeep Rajan songs started to become popular amongst Indian Audience. He was then appointed as the Youth Brand Ambassador of Uttarakhand in 2016.
He auditioned for Indian Idol in 2021 and, ever since the beginning, was a favourite amongst the audience. Being on such a big stage, Pawandeep never forgot his roots. He represented his Pahadi culture by singing the Maangal song ”DainaHoya’Hoya’ which is often sung at weddings. Pawandeep, through his constant hard work, has created a name for himself.
