Indramani Baluni of Uttarakhand runs a restaurant in Birmingham, England. His restaurant is located in Edgbaston city and is named‘Bacaba’. There it is accompanied by other companions which belong to Pauri Garhwal of Uttarakhand. Recently BBC Hindi prepared a report on Indramani Baluni and his restaurant. Indramani says that he was a ‘Tandoori Specialist’ chef. When he came to England, he helped to stabilize many restaurants. Cooking was his passion and that’s what he wanted to do. At present Indramani Baluni and his associates run Bacaba restaurant in Edgbaston, which is very popular. Indramani says that settling in England wasn’t easy for him.
For two years, he kept feeling nostalgic about his village and family back in India. Well, over time, he took care of himself and decided to do something better there. He then took a restaurant on lease and made it his passion. Today Bacaba is known for its delicious food and good service. It is the result of the hard work of Indramani Baluni and his Pahari partners. His restaurant has received ‘The Food Award England’ twice. This was in two consecutive years viz, 2017 and 2018 as well. From a small village in the hills of Uttarakhand to England. To make his make was not easy for Indramani. He says that when he came to England, he had three thousand rupees i.e. 28 to 30 pounds in his pocket.
He further says that the officials at the airport made me stand on the side for 15 minutes. That time he was crying on the inside. Because he had left his job at the Hyatt Hotel to come to England. He didn’t even have money to return home. But slowly everything started settling down. Indramani was accompanied by another Uttarakhandi companion, who was from Pauri Garhwal. They served both veg and non-veg dishes in their restaurant that the foreigners ate with great gusto. People like Indramani Baluni are the real identity of Uttarakhand.His efforts made him the Best chef of Uttarakhand staying abroad. The youth of the mountain is not only protecting the border of the country but are satisfying their appetite as well.
