Chandi Devi Temple is a sacred Hindu temple and pilgrimage center located in the ancient city of Haridwar in the north Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is situated on top of the Neel Parvat, of the Shivalik Hills, in the Himalayan mountain range. This beautiful temple is dedicated to Goddess Chandi Devi and is one of the Panch Tirtha Hindu centers in the holy city of Haridwar. It is also commonly known as Neel Parvat Shrine and is a popular place of worship. Chandi Devi Temple Mythology and as associated legends. The kingdom of Lord Indra was captured by two demons Shumbha – Nishumbha. Attracted by the beauty of Goddess Parvati, the demon Shumbha expressed his desire to marry her.
After her refusal, Shumbha sent two of his chief Chands and Mundas to fight with Goddess Parvati. The goddess created a powerful goddess Chandika to slay the demons. Chandika Devi killed Chand Mund and then Shumbh Nishumbha. The whole battle took place on the Neel Parvat, so the temple of Chandi Devi was built at that place.
