Alok Ulfat is a well-known face of the Indian film and theatre industry. He is a renowned director, writer, and philanthropist.
Alok was born in Dehradun, Uttrakhand a city full of arts and artists. His parents were active social workers & philanthropists.
Alok completed his early education in Dehradun from three different schools: Nanhi Duniya (founded by his father himself), Michael Hall, UK & DAV School.
He was a student of English, Geology, Economics, and Geography. He is a PG in English and American literature too, From DBS & DAV College.
He completed his teacher training in Speech and Drama from Emerson College, United Kingdom.
He is married to a beautiful actress Shruti Ulfat & the couple has a son named Ojasya.
Alok’s interest in social concerns and storytelling led him to social work, theatre activism, environmental awareness, and finally the film industry.
He was a faculty in the ‘National School of Drama, Delhi, and has been associated with the ‘Film and Television Institute of India’ for the last 8 years.
He designed the process for the selection of students at the ‘Film and Television Institute of India’, Pune. He has conducted workshops in India as well as abroad including Europe, South-East Asia, and Canada.
The students of Alok Ulfat are excelling in their respective careers within the fields of Performing Arts, Direction, Writing, and Music, including Ananda Gandhi (directed the national award-winning film ‘Ship of Theseus’). Director Abhishek Dogra, very talented actors Rajkumar Rao, Rajiv Kathpalia & young and fresh talent Harshvardhan Kapoor are his students too.
Alok’s father Professor Lekh Raj Ulfat founded Nanhi Duniya ‘The International Movement of Children and their Friends’. The main aim of this organization was the creation of a peaceful, sustainable and integrated world, where all human beings can live and grow in harmony.
Alok for the last 20 years, has been training actors, writers, directors, musicians, and many aspiring artists to make their name in Indian cinemas and Television in Mumbai and other parts of the world too.
